This was my second stay, and both the meals and the Onsen were very satisfying. In particular, the dinner menu changes every month, and you can really feel the head chef’s dedication to dashi; I think it’s worth staying here just for the food. The lounge is also well equipped, making this a comfortable Accommodation. I’m looking forward to my third stay.

Despite making a same-day Reservation, we were warmly welcomed and expertly assisted from pickup through check-in and guidance—an atmosphere truly filled with hospitality. The Facility was breathtaking as well: the stunning valley views and sounds, the Room and Onsen to enjoy them, and the meals—everything exceeded our expectations. During this cherry blossom season, you even suggested a morning weeping cherry blossom tour at dinner, and we had a far better time than if we had planned it ourselves. It was such a relaxing stay that it made us want to work hard every day so we can come back again. Thank you very much.

We stayed for one night with our child. When making the Reservation, entering an infant meant no Rooms appeared (probably due to the number of guests), but they responded quickly and helped us right away. They also laid out extra futons so we could sleep comfortably—I think they took our family size into consideration. They neatly re-tied our child’s loosened yukata, and their friendly conversation during meals made us feel at ease. It was a truly blissful time that naturally brought smiles. We also enjoyed two types of private baths. The stars were beautiful, and both adults and children could relax and enjoy the Onsen comfortably. The meals were delicious, and we were surprised by how lavish the children’s meal was as well. It was an Accommodation we would love to visit again.

We stayed for one night and two days. The Room surrounded the garden, so it was very quiet and relaxing. We really felt the hospitality with welcome drinks, a coffee machine, and snacks, and we were impressed by the late-night snack. The meals were generous and very delicious. The soba noodles and river fish were especially outstanding. There are two baths in the building, and you can also use Yorozuya’s Momoyama Bath and the public bath Oyu. The in-house baths can be reserved for private use for 30 minutes. The Momoyama Bath was amazing. The outdoor bath water was quite lukewarm, so we didn’t stay long. During our stay, everyone spoke to us in a friendly way, which made our time truly comfortable. We would definitely like to stay again.

The service was just right for me—not over the top, not overly elaborate, and not trying too hard to be different. I stayed for a Multiple Night Stay, and I was pleasantly surprised that the meals on the second day were even better. Rather than simply being “upgraded,” they really showcased the careful, delicate qualities of kaiseki cuisine. The Momoyama bath is truly impressive. You can take photos during a short time in the morning, and there’s also an explanatory tour by the staff, which I enjoyed. Soaking slowly in the clear Onsen with its high alkalinity helped me relax deeply, and I felt refreshed both physically and mentally.

I stayed here to see the snow monkeys in Jigokudani. Come to think of it, I haven’t had many chances to visit Nagano Prefecture, and this was almost my first time experiencing an Onsen. (Probably Hakuba skiing more than ten years ago? Or just stopping by briefly on the way when my wife visited her family in Niigata.) I’ve stayed at many places, and this has become one of the Accommodations I’d like to use again. The semi-open-air bath in the Room was so good that I ended up not using the large public bath or the two outdoor baths, which was a shame. Also, it felt refreshingly rare these days that the proprietress greeted us here and there. It had the feel of a quiet, old-fashioned Onsen town, and that actually made it even nicer (especially since Kusatsu was incredibly crowded the next day). The building feels a bit old—perhaps expanded over time—and there are some drawbacks such as steps in various places (stairs even on the same floor) and a long, narrow Room with level changes. It would be nice if ramps and better soundproofing could be added... At times, while in the Room, I noticed vibrations and noise. This may be difficult to arrange, but I would be happy if guests could also bathe at all of the outdoor baths (Bath No. 1 onward).

We arrived at the Ryokan while admiring the cherry blossoms in full bloom along the Yomase River at night. The Ryokan was quiet and relaxing, and we were able to fully enjoy an extraordinary getaway in a very comfortable setting. Every dish was carefully prepared and memorably delicious. The baths, lounge, and other facilities were clean, and we were able to use them comfortably. If I may make one request, we would rate it even higher if alcoholic beverages in the private lounge could be available until a little later, as we are big fans of drinks! Lastly, we were truly impressed by the staff’s consistently courteous service and warm hospitality throughout our stay. Thank you very much to the proprietress and all of the staff.

Both the Room and the restaurant had a Japanese-modern design, creating a very relaxing atmosphere. The Onsen water was excellent, and because it is free-flowing, I was able to enjoy it many times. It had been a while since I last enjoyed truly delicious Japanese cuisine. The chef is licensed to prepare fugu, and the fried fugu they prepared was exceptionally tasty. Next time, I’d love to try the full fugu course as well. I also heard that they ran a sushi restaurant for many years—no wonder the sashimi, carefully selected with the chef’s expert eye, was outstanding. The Japanese dishes and sushi prepared by the brothers were absolutely superb. A sushi course would be wonderful too. This is an Accommodation where I’ll continue looking forward to the food in the future, and it has become one of the places I’d like to stay again. I had a truly enjoyable time—thank you very much to all of the staff.

This time, we enjoyed a relaxing stay with IKYU's value Plan, featuring a spacious Room with Onsen and private dining at a traditional restaurant. The final dish of matsutake mushroom dobin-mushi was delightful, showcasing heartfelt cuisine. The piano and flute lobby concert brought back memories with its beautiful melodies, creating a wonderful experience. Blessed with good weather, we admired the snowy mountains and viewed apple orchards, distant ranges, and the Chikuma River from the Nagaden express private compartment while reminiscing about Shimazaki Toson’s poetry in lively conversation. Staying at such excellent Accommodation allowed us to savor the lingering charm of our trip. Thanks to Diamond Member services, we also received house wine as a gift before leaving. It was truly a lovely late autumn journey.

We were both very satisfied to be able to see cherry blossoms in full bloom from the open-air bath, close enough to feel within reach. It was delicious—and a first-time experience—to pick shiitake mushrooms ourselves from a cultivation kit at dinner, grill them, and eat them. It was also nice to move to the lobby for dessert. The staff were very attentive as well. The only downside was that the Facility felt a bit old, but it was a good Hotel.

There was no raw seafood in the meals, but the variety of dishes was fairly satisfying. Overall, I was able to relax and take my time. Many areas were closed off due to restrictions, which made getting around difficult. Still, it was a Hotel that made me want to come back. Thank you for your hospitality.

Stayed overnight after skiing at Shiga Kogen After check-in, straight to the open-air bath! Then draft beer at the all-you-can-drink corner. There were snacks too—the mixed nuts were delicious. Dinner buffet featured teppanyaki beef, with red wine, and plenty of other options. Breakfast was tasty as well. If I didn’t have to drive, I’d have enjoyed the all-you-can-drink from the morning too (lol). The building is old, but they’ve clearly worked hard on renovations. The woman at reception also made a great impression. It’s a shame that the dead grass seen from the road makes it look a bit like an abandoned place. I’ll be back.

After earning my Onsen Sommelier Master certification, I’ve been gradually visiting Onsen around Japan. The water quality in Shibu Onsen is truly wonderful. I was surprised by how many international visitors there were. Because the public bath tour was crowded, I couldn’t visit them all… but I was able to enjoy almost all of the baths at the Ryokan. The staff were very friendly and relaxed, which made my stay truly soothing. To Mr. Y from the male staff: thank you for all the fun conversations. If you have time, please do come to Niigata again.

This accommodation is located right next to a famous architectural accommodation in Shibu Onsen, in front of the ninth bath of the Sotoyu Meguri. It is an ideal location for enjoying the Sotoyu Meguri. The hospitality from all staff, including the proprietress, is exceptional, making it a very pleasant place to stay. While the guest rooms are slightly dated, the meals are impeccable in both variety and taste, and of course, the onsen water soothes deep into your body to relieve daily fatigue. For us as a couple, this accommodation exceeded our expectations.

We stayed here with both sets of parents as three families. After a lively dinner for the first time in a while, we relaxed in the private bath and the large public bath. Karaoke was free for one hour per Room, so we ended up with three Rooms for three hours! We initially wanted just one hour, but at the staff’s suggestion we made a Reservation for two hours, and had a great time singing classic hits—it flew by. We got a little hungry and even enjoyed the late-night ramen. Many of the staff appeared to be from overseas, but everyone greeted us with smiles and provided pleasant service. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us. It was a wonderful trip. Thank you again. We would love to visit again.

I’m not good with the cold, so I was a bit worried about how warm the Room would be, but there was a heater and a kotatsu, and they even provided a hot water bottle for sleeping, so I stayed very comfortably. Also, I didn’t know that access to nine different hot springs was included, but they were all fun and I was completely satisfied. Breakfast was delicious as well, and I truly had a wonderful time. Highly recommended Accommodation. Thank you very much.

It’s not a particularly new Facility, but the staff were very friendly, and the meals were more than sufficient for older guests. The bath was spacious, and we were very satisfied. Thank you very much.

I stayed here during the Obuse Marathon. Despite my early departure, they kindly prepared rice balls and tea for me, which I greatly appreciated. The warm smiles when welcoming and sending me off made for a wonderful stay.

Stayed for one night with my family of three from May 5th. It's not a luxury inn by any means, but it's a Japanese-style ryokan where you can feel the history and relax without any pretension. The hot springs were better than expected. I particularly liked the indoor bath in the large public bath, which had a pleasant wooden feel. The outdoor bath in the room was a bit hot but felt great as it clung to the skin. I thought it might be shallow, but when you lean back against the edge, you can look up at the sky like a reclining bath. I soaked in it many times, looking at the blue sky during the day and the starry sky at night. The indoor bath in the room was a standard household bathtub, which was a bit disappointing, but it had floating irises, allowing us to enjoy the scent and the forgotten annual event of the Boys' Festival. The indoor bath in the room allows you to adjust the water volume, so each family member can enjoy it at their preferred temperature. The washing area is narrow, which is a drawback, but I imagine it became narrow because they installed the indoor bath, so I was satisfied thinking, "They added an indoor bath, after all..." The meals were not kaiseki or chef's cuisine, but they were full of the landlady's handmade creations, which seemed to have been cherished for a long time, and the whole family was very satisfied. The woman who greeted us at first was so efficient and attentive that I mistakenly thought she was the young landlady, but having such staff left a good impression. Indeed, the facilities and equipment are old, but if they improve the inn's website and update the images on Ikkyu, I believe they will definitely gain more fans. A check-in time of 3 PM and a check-out time of 10 AM is rare these days. It would be nice if the check-out time was at least 11 AM. At check-out, they took a family photo in front of the large entrance curtain and printed it out for us immediately. I never thought I would be able to take a family photo on the morning of my 60th birthday. It's a treasure. Thank you.
