We were welcomed with a welcome drink and ohagi, followed by complimentary soft drinks and snacks, and in the evening there was also alcohol service. At dinner we enjoyed a special dish from the head chef, and although we chose a Japanese breakfast, French toast was also served. There were plenty of extra treats as well, including grilled squid and chikuwa as a late-night snack—an Accommodation full of thoughtful services. Both breakfast and dinner were served in private dining rooms, so we could relax. All staff members greeted us with smiles and provided pleasant service. The Room was thoroughly cleaned down to every detail, making our stay very comfortable. Checkout is at 11:00 a.m., so we were able to take our time with a morning bath and enjoy a relaxing morning. Amenities: 4 — I would have liked to be able to choose between samue loungewear or yukata. Meals: 4 — Even the smaller-portion Plan still felt quite generous. This was our second stay, and it’s an Accommodation we would love to return to.

I arrived before check-in time, and thank you for kindly accommodating me. The Room had a cypress indoor bath with an outside view and an open-air bath, both of which I was able to use late at night. We decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary with crab, so we made a Reservation at the last minute. When we arrived, the proprietress welcomed us with a warm smile, and after check-in at the front desk, she kindly showed us to our Room. The building itself has a sense of history, and there are stairs and steps throughout, so it may be a bit challenging for guests with mobility issues. The Room isn’t large, but it was spotless, and thoughtful touches—like a heated carpet laid over the tatami—made it feel especially comfortable. After changing into yukata, we headed straight to the Onsen. We started with the large public bath only; even the baskets in the changing area were lovely and lifted our spirits. Once inside, we were impressed by the very high ceiling and stylish design—stained-glass doors and an elegant layout that created a wonderfully open atmosphere. Then came dinner—the highlight we’d been looking forward to. First was a refreshing sudachi aperitif that was delicious. The sashimi starter featured sweet shrimp that were wonderfully plump, and the firefly squid dressed with vinegared miso was surprisingly tender—the gentle flavor of the miso dressing was perfect. I’m not enough of a crab connoisseur to confidently tell all the differences (like tagged crab), but since it was a special occasion, we chose a Plan that included Taiza crab sashimi—and it had an incredible melt-in-your-mouth sweetness... We could enjoy it not only with crab vinegar but also with sudachi or salt—truly outstanding! That alone almost would have satisfied us—but this is where things really began: fragrant grilled crab; a rich yet clean-tasting Taiza crab miso soup; then crab hot pot followed by rice porridge; dessert of crab ice cream; and even chocolate mousse to celebrate our anniversary. It’s frustrating that all I can say is “delicious,” because everything really was. After dinner, we relaxed in the private bath we had reserved without worrying about anyone else around us, changed into pajamas (a very welcome touch!), and drifted off completely satisfied... The next morning we visited the bath with an open-air tub. This outdoor bath also had an ocean view and felt wonderful—we soaked slowly and enjoyed every moment. Breakfast was classic Japanese style—simple but delicious... It was my first time trying heshiko, and it was so good that I even used the discount voucher on our way out to buy some. They saw us off with warm smiles until the very end, making this an incredibly satisfying wedding anniversary trip. Thank you very much!

The Room had a calm atmosphere with Ryukyu tatami mats, and I was able to relax. The large public bath was unavailable due to construction, but the Room had a ceramic tub like a pot bath, so I could enjoy a relaxing soak on my own. Both dinner and breakfast were very delicious, and I was satisfied with both the quantity and quality. I would like to mention a few points that concerned me. The key was difficult to turn and it took some effort. Also, because the door opens inward, the space for taking off shoes was very narrow and it was hard to remove them. In addition, there was no stopper for the washbasin sink, so I worried my contact lenses might get washed away while cleaning them. Would it be possible to provide a stopper or use a mesh cover over the drain? Also, there were no skincare amenities in the Room such as toner, lotion, or cleansing products, and unfortunately this time I hadn’t brought my own, which was inconvenient. That said, the service and overall atmosphere were very good. Thank you very much.

We stayed on the Anniversary Plan, and I can’t fully put into words how enjoyable and memorable our stay was. We are truly grateful. The shuttle bus from Kyoto Station made access extremely convenient. We used the revolving observation restaurant “TOP OF KYOTO” for both dinner and breakfast. At dinner, we were delighted by your thoughtful touches—an anniversary photo, a single rose as a gift, a message on the dessert plate, and even a whole cake. Every dish featuring plenty of Kyoto vegetables was delicious, and we enjoyed a luxurious time watching the ever-changing views of Kyoto from the gently rotating dining room. The cityscape wrapped in soft morning light and the fantastical Kyoto floating in the sparkling night view—being able to enjoy both was especially memorable. The pool and sauna available as part of our 10th-floor Room benefits were also wonderful, and we were moved by how carefully your staff responded during a small unexpected incident. I’m not very confident at swimming, but this inspired me to join a swimming club so that next time I can return able to swim properly. After dinner, we had cocktails at the bar; everything—the interior design, lighting, atmosphere, and service—was comfortable, as if luxurious time for adults flowed by slowly. Wherever we were in the Hotel, we felt a sense of security and elegance—and above all, your staff’s politeness and warmth. It truly felt like a first-class Hotel. When we decided to visit Amanohashidate, we looked for a Hotel and chose Mercure. When I wrote in my message, “We will be visiting on my birthday,” the Room was decorated with a message card and a birthday cake made from towels. I had forgotten about it, so I was deeply moved. Both the Room and the large public bath were clean, and the entire Hotel felt thoughtfully kept to only what was necessary, making it very comfortable. The buffet offered a wide variety of dishes, and not only drinks but also alcohol were available—everything was taken care of. We went home completely satisfied. Thank you very much. The room faced the mountains, but the serene view from the terrace was incredibly refreshing. The blue sky and the surrounding fields created a traditional Japanese atmosphere. The seaside bath offered a stunning ocean view, making it hard to leave. Starting the BBQ fire felt nostalgic, like going back to childhood, and was quite enjoyable. The dinner BBQ was so plentiful that I couldn’t even finish my rice. Breakfast was delicious as well, and I ended up having seconds of rice! It was a very satisfying stay overall, but there are a few things that could be improved: Since I wanted to visit the bath multiple times, it would have been nice to have hooks for drying bath towels. I also wished there had been an outlet near the mirror in the room for using a hairdryer while looking in the mirror. As someone who doesn’t drink alcohol, I would prefer cheese fondue made with milk instead of wine—it might also be easier for children to enjoy this way. Having a fan available when starting up the charcoal would make lighting it quicker and easier. Still, it was such an enjoyable trip that I’d love to stay at this accommodation again when visiting Tango!
