I stayed with both dinner and breakfast included.First of all, the charming building, where you can fully feel its history, was wonderful. At the same time, it was thoroughly cleaned and felt very fresh and spotless. The meals were also delicious and very satisfying. The tableware was beautiful as well, and lovely pieces were also sold at the front desk. The Onsen was piping hot and felt great. There wasn’t much communication with the staff, but in those moments they responded cheerfully, which I appreciated. In particular, thank you to the dining staff for their pleasant service.Overall, it’s an Accommodation that feels just right in every way—one I’d like to visit again.
はなこ十五穀米 2/24/2026Always choosing a Ryokan with a private open-air bath is a delightful challenge. This time, I stayed at Maruichi for the first time. Although it was during the cold season, the Room was warm, and we were able to relax and enjoy our time together as a couple. Thank you very much! I look forward to staying again in the future. Please take care of us then as well!

Introduction of the Accommodation

Sarugakyo Onsen is nestled amid abundant water and greenery, embraced by the mountains of Mikuni. Hatagoya Maruichi is located in one corner of this serene area. Founded in 1728, our Accommodation has witnessed nearly 300 years of history. Through changing times, it has remained a timeless place where travelers’ stories continue to unfold. Surrounded by magnificent nature and the breath of history, we invite you to spend a warm, relaxing time with us.

Built on the timeless beauty of traditional craftsmanship—solid beams, pillars, and fine wood joinery—each guest room is uniquely adorned with Ryukyu tatami, yukimi shoji screens, and curated artworks and calligraphy. The special suites and detached villas feature private in-room Onsen baths, allowing you to enjoy an exceptional stay without concern for time or prying eyes. Listen to the gentle rustle of history in the trees and birdsong as you spend an extraordinary time immersed in nature, while relaxing in a warm, calming space that feels just like home.

After nearly 300 years of running an Accommodation, Maruichi finally welcomed its long-held dream in 2024: pure natural water and its own Onsen source. Inside the property, we offer “Kura-no-Yu Hayashi,” a bath surrounded by the scent of wood, as well as in-room Onsen baths, all filled with our private spring, “Sarugakyo Mikuni Onsenkyo Satoyama Onsen.” As you gaze out at nature and surrender to the gentle waters, a deep sense of calm will wash over both body and mind. In this quiet setting, please enjoy a relaxing soak at your leisure.

Kaiseki Cuisine Featuring the Bounty of Gunma
We offer dishes made with local Gunma ingredients, such as Joshu beef sukiyaki, Joshu Mugibuta pork shabu-shabu, and fresh locally grown vegetables. Our kaiseki cuisine, which cherishes the blessings of the season, enriches your time away. Savor the flavors of each season along with the charm of our historic Accommodation.
